Polestar 3 hits nearly 1000km to set Guinness record

The Polestar 3 has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest journey by an electric SUV on a single charge.
I do like 'good news' stories like this. Anything to help folks overcome range anxiety, even if it's set through fairly unrealistic methods, is worthy of a few lines I reckon.
Setting the record, a team of professional efficiency drivers piloted the Long range Single motor variant for 935.44 kilometres over nearly 23 hours in mixed weather conditions.

With no special tweaks, the electric SUV achieved a bloody handsome efficiency of 12.1 kWh/100 km – well below the 17.6-20.3 kWh/100km it claims in the brochure.
The official marketing figure is, of course, a WLTP-tested figure based on real-world driving, so it's of course going to be a lot higher than what these professionals have pulled off.
“While the drivers pushed the Polestar 3 to the boundaries of its range capability, it goes to show how battery range has improved exponentially over the past few years," Matt Galvin, Polestar UK Managing Director said.

"For a large premium SUV to go way beyond a London to Edinburgh distance is truly impressive, and with this the adage that ‘EVs can’t go far’ has been very much consigned to the history books.”
I haven't driven the Polestar 3 yet as I was overseas when it finally reached Australia, but hopefully I'll rectify that soon. I did attend its global launch, though, and wrote about it here for Wheels:
