Aussie tuner & Norwegian artist give NSX a modern makeover

The original NSX is a timeless icon that needs no help, but we do love an attempt.
Aussie tuner & Norwegian artist give NSX a modern makeover

If you were to declare the original Honda NSX is perfect without makeovers or bodykits, you'd get no argument from me – although Nico's widebodied red baddy will always be the goat to me.

But, as far as the growing trend of modernisation goes, powered as it is by 3D printing and other new rapid prototyping capabilities, go this 'new' NSX by Aussie tuners Autotique and Norwegian 3D artist Piston Zero... ain't too bad.

Modernising an old car is always a polarising thing and the results are usually, at best, 'an acquired taste' or 'each to their own' situation, but I don't mind this one.

To Piston Zero's credit, the bulk of the modernising work is in the curvy intakes at the front end, with the rest of the widebody work and rear bar all keeping to a fairly understated look.

The slender LED strips at the rear some of the more tasteful aftermarket lights I've seen applied to an NSX, but I think I'd either do more to flaunt the shape, or just leave them alone.

(To be clear, the best mod of NSX tail lights are these subtle ARCLight race-spec LED replacements in the stock configuration, owned by @phamus. Also, RIP SpeedHunters. ❤️)

So, it's a job well done, I think.

And I admit, even if I wouldn't take the rest of it, I think the boxed quarters and the rear bar are really nicely done. I'd have those.

I'll be keen to see it in real life, if Autotique finds an owner keen to have it done – and I'd love to chat to that owner.

Check out Thanos's story at Carscoops for some more details on the project.

Man, I really need to learn Blender...
