Ferrari's Amalfi makes a better Supra

When Toyota revealed the Crown Sport SUV in July 2022 and Ferrari rolled out the Purosangue three months later, there were a few spit takes.
With so little time between their unveilings, there was just no way that one had copied the other. The timelines of car design and development and parts supply are simply too long and complex.
And even though Toyota had revealed a similar look even earlier with January's GR GT3 concept, the wildly familiar faces of the Purosangue and Crown Sport could only be a coincidence.
You'll always see trends, especially in facelifts, but an outright copy of a wholly new design language within months of each other is just... well, highly improbable if not impossible.
When Fez unveiled the Amalfi last week, my first thought was that I'd love to see it with Toyota's Crown face as a reimagining of the A90 Supra that I've never liked. (I loved the FT-1 concept, but shrinking it into the Z4's proportions made for a terrible result. Don't @ me.)

☝️It turns out my mate Theottle had the same thought, because yesterday he unveiled his own new-look Supra.
Or, I dunno, maybe it's a 2000GT? Nah, that's inviting far too much scrutiny. Maybe, like the Soarer, it's a more luxurious companion to the Supra.
Okay, yeah, Supra is probably the best badge for this. So let's get rid of BMW, bring in Yamaha, and revive the real Supra. TOYOTA LFG
Oh, also, it has to be in Anthracite, the rare 'definitely not brown but yeah it was' grey that was offered with the A80. "The doodoo colour!" as Theo said when I showed him my tweak to his image.
Also, we're bringing back the wing and adding the A80's little brake cooling duct, because the A90's glue-on panel is an embarrassment. Put some respect on properly integrated elements.

TRUE STORY TIME
I owned an A80 SZ (that's the lamer non-turbo) in the early 2000s, because there was no way I had the budget for the RZ turbos that were already blowing up in price (the only way a 2Jz blows up) even back then.
One evening I was out taking some photos of it at the Port Melbourne pier with whatever shitty Sony Cybershot I had back then (actually it was a Pentax Optio S4i thank you very much), and a security guard wandered along.

I assumed he was going to tell me to clear out, but no, he just wanted to know more about my Ferrari.
You can laugh, but the A80 wasn't well known in Australia, and if your pervading image of the big T was Corolla and Camry and LandCruiser and RAV4... would you have looked at the Supra and thought of Toyota?
I'm not sure how many people would've immediately thought Ferrari, but hey, it was a very Euro lookin' GT, so I reckon It's understandable.
So, yeah. Full circle moment. A Ferrari that should be a Toyota! 😁
