The new 911 4S is out and it's still the Targa for me

The new 992 v.2 range grows with the arrival of four new fatass 4S models: the Carrera 4S Coupe, Carrera 4S Cabriolet and the Targa 4S.
They're all fine, as always, but bloody hell the Targa gets me every time.
Where Audi should've never ditched that prominent blade on the R8, Porsche's been smart enough to know it's onto a good thing with the chrome Targa hoop.

The important bits
- Engine: 3.0-litre twin-turbo boxer six, obviously. 353kW (480hp), which is a nice 22kW bump. Torque is unchanged at 530Nm.
- Drivetrain: Rear-biased all-wheel drive, power sent to the front as needed.
- Transmission: A slick eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) sends power to all four wheels.
- Acceleration & top speed: They only list coupe figures, but it claims 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds (0.1 quicker than before), and a top speed of 308km/h.

Standard kit on all global models
- Wheels: Staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Carrera S wheels.
- Brakes: 408mm front and 380mm rear discs with red callipers, borrowed from the GTS models.
- Mod cons: Leather is standard, along with matrix LED headlights.
- The Coupé comes as a two-seater from the factory, but you can add the strangely seat-shaped parcel shelves back in for no extra cost.
Aussie spec
As always, Porsche has thrown in a few sweets to give dealers a response when the buyer asks "lol what, how much?!"
(To be fair, Porsche buyers aren't blown away quite that easily.)
'Strayan cars get adaptive cruise (A$3000 in the UK), lane change assist, Bose surround sound, digital radio (when you want your ads in high-quality broadcast), and a surround-view camera to make parking less of a pants-browning experience.

TELL 'EM HOW MUCH
- 992.2 911 Carrera 4S Coupé starts from $362,300
- 992.2 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet starts from $385,200
- 992.2 911 Targa 4S (🤤) starts from $389,400
These things are holding price nicely on the used market, too. When I look at Targa 4S options on Carsales, there are only three – and the cheapest is a 2015 991 in NSW for $220K. Dang diddly.
The other two are a 2021 992 for $350K and a very fresh 2024 992 for $420K (he's looking to walk into a 992.2, I get it.)
Don't get me wrong – I'd do it if I had stupid money. These things are the dream. Targa 4S for the daily, Singer 911 Carrera for weekends. 😉
